The dancer and the pig, pencil & watercolour , 29,7 x 21 cm
Federico Gemma (Italië , 1970)
"I was sketching wild pigs in the Abruzzo National Park in Italy when my attention was drawn to a strange couple —a wagtail and a wild boar. The Italian name of the wagtail, "Ballerina bianca", means "white dancer".Her elegant and fussy moves are so different from the behaviour of the wild pigs, which is forceful, and focused on the dirt. The wagtail dances around the digging, grubby pigs, hoping to snatch something to eat from under their sensitive snouts."
